Project Catch Up

There's been a bit of activity in my little corner of heaven lately.  Although my lovely life challenge knocked me for a loop, I'm still doing, however slowly, still doing.

Run, Girl, Run was created with the JBS Mercantile PaperCrafting Kit.  I only used that kit, photo corners, and a punch.  I love challenging myself to use only the PCK for at least one layout.  It's easy to do, since the kit is always gorgeous and full of great things to play with.

Yes, such a pretty pretty kit.

I'm also guest designing for Amanda Robinson Studio this month.  I love Amanda.  Such a sweet, helpful, and mega talented person.  I was honored to be asked to guest for her this month.  I love her cut files and cannot WAIT to see what she has in store, for her store!  Heck though - I SO NEED a new head shot!  Hopefully lovely sister-in-law will agree to stop by and help me out with that again.  We had a LOT of laughs last time.

I made You Loved This Place using 3 different kits from Amanda's store.  The title was made with simple manipulations of the Geotags-1 kit.  Read more about the layout on Amanda's blog.

And I was thrilled to use the new JBS Chalkboard Flatbacks on this layout.  Is it strange that I carry around the package backing with my name on it?

Thanks for visiting - I look forward to seeing what everyone is working on!

Mercantile Kit Layouts - Yahoo!

The November Papercrafting Kit at the JBS Mercantile features the newest Red & Black Collection.  What a great collection - cute and fun, with strong graphics all at the same time.  And red, black, and cream go with just about everything!

As I mentioned in a post below,  cutting into the Red Cross paper is just a blast and can be very striking!

By purchasing the PaperCrafting Kit, you get the bonus stencil cut shown above. In 4 file formats, It will  work with any cutting machine out there.

The word arrows are cut from a digital kit at the JBS Digital Shoppe: JBS Word Arrows .  I just did a little turning of one arrow to "redirect" it!

The Wheatflower Stamp is part of the Artisan Kit this month.  I think this may be my newest favorite stamp.  I'm envisioning Thanksgiving placecards and even Christmas decor with this stamp.

I added a touch of yellow cardstock to the next layout.

I'm really into mixing up my page sizes lately. Just doing whatever suits my fancy at the moment.

I do hope you're doing whatever suits your fancy too!

Thanks for visiting!

Lots of Pretty

September ... fall ... it's my favorite month ... my favorite season.  As I've said, it feels like "beginnings" to me.

What a better way to start this month than with a very pretty, very lovely, full of color Mercantile Kit.

My gallery (and Doris') over at the site is having a few hiccoughs, but the rest of the DT is loaded with lovelies.  See them here.

I'll show mine - the correct gallery for Doris and I should be up soon.

One Little Tiny Egg was made from the Papercrafting kit only.  There's so much to love in that kit!

The pink border was cut from paper in the kit using my Silhouette and the GateBorder svg file from this kit:

I LOVE the paper from the Papercrafting kit so much - thank GOSH they offer paper extras!  I wanted to use the B-sides and A-sides equally ... and that means more paper please!

In "Autumn Love I Confess" I used a the exclusive stamp and stencil and ...... the new Kit Cut ...... which will become a new monthly feature with the Papercrafting Kit.  You can download your own this month on the JBS Inspiration blog here.

Lisa Dickinson designed this months cuts - so pretty, isn't it?

So much to love this month ... including the Flea Market additions ... i caved and bought ... but couldn't help it!  More on that later!

Got Kits? Get 'em Organized.

A while ago on the JBS Mercantile forum, it was questioned if there was a way to keep track of the supplies in the Mercantile kits, so you can refer to them down the road.  Lisa Dickinson responded with a great idea.  She copies and pastes the kit photo and supply list into a Word doc, prints it off, and saves it in her kit box.

I thought it was such a great idea, but of course didn't implement it myself - that would make too much sense now wouldn't it?

Recently, I've been using Evernote to organize ... well, to organize everything going on in my life.  I'm even using it, based on Lisa's idea, to keep track of my kit supplies.

It's so easy - just a copy and paste - well just a click and drag on my Mac!  Right now, I don't even bother printing it off - it's been great just having it available on Evernote.

And speaking of kits - the August JBS Mercantile kit is for sale - you can see a sneak of it in the large photo above.  The exclusives (stamp and stencil) are my FAVORITE to date.  Take a look at what the design team has been doing with them.  So many great ideas!

I made this layout with the Papercrafting Kit only:

The challenge this month was to use the Papercrafting Kit only and add dimensional papercrafting.  Pinwheels were the perfect addition to this layout about the Chester Fair.  That's my mom on the left and me on the right. My grandpa's in both photos, too.  Ah ... memories and traditions !

Happiness CAN Come in a Box

Oh yes, it can.

When I opened the JBS Mercantile January kit, all I could think of was "happy happy happy".  These kits are full of color and fun bits and pieces.  I've made 3 layouts so far with 2 more almost done.

Oh the happy colors!

The Basic Grey flowers and bits in the Papercrafting kit are so.much.fun.

I'm so glad my sewing machine is fixed!

And this one was a blast.  I took a baseball card holder and used it as a base.  A larger photo, title, and journaling are placed across the middle.  I love this set up so much - I have plans - and more plans - to use baseball card holders more.  We only have about a gazillion in the house.

The card holders hold the little bits and pieces that I imagined as confetti ...

So many fun embellishments ...

Check out the JBS Mercantile gallery - the design team did wonderful things with this kit!

Have you scrapped recently?  I haven't scrapped ALL YEAR!  Hoping to scrap today!
(i'm soooo funny)

Getting that October daily ready ...

After playing around with a bunch of different ideas, I finally decided on the photo / journaling format for my October daily.

There's a lot of talk on the message board about how we are approaching this, so I'll share my way here:

I'm creating the template for my mini pages in a word processor - I use Mac Pages - but something similar can be done in Word.

This is the template.  The green boxes will have photos in them.  They're small - only 2x2 inches, so I have a space for a larger photo that will be included now and then.  This same template will be copied and used every six days.  All I have to do is change the numbers, photos, add my journaling, and print it off.

The colors I chose for the print match the mini book I made from the October JBS Mercantile kit.  To match them nicely, I simply pulled the internet image of the kit up on my screen, and used the color-picker in my Mac Pages to "choose" the colors I wanted.

Here's the general idea:

I just love it when your computer makes life easy for you ... !

so .... I'll be waiting every six days I think to print my photos out .... if I can wait that long ...  ;)

If you've never used a color-picker, you should try it!  PSE has a color-picker that does allow you to get the color code for anything on your screen.  You can find a bunch online, too - apps for your Mac and programs for your PC. Many are free or very cheap!
