I love fall and winter berries. They add such a nice spark to a bare landscape. Natures jewels. They even catch my eye on the highway. I've got to really concentrate this time of year on keeping my eye on the road!
These are from various places in and around town:
I'm sure some are technically seed heads and not berries. If you're interested, this is what they are left to right:
1. Jack in the Pulpit
2. Viburnum
3. Pokeweed
4. Bittersweet
5. Porcelain berry
The Porcelain Berry was in-cred-i-ble. I saw them while i was watching a fall baseball game. They were climbing on a fence. Unbelievable colors: purple, teal, all shades of blue. Gorgeous!
Hi Betsy - Thanks for your post on fall berries! The short strip of trees between Grandma's yard and my mom's yard used to be filled with bittersweet. Each fall I would cut lengths of them and decorate outside wreaths and garland around my door. Your post got me thinking of the importance of the beauty of nature in front of us we don't even see! Thanks for the memories!! Happy Thanksgiving.
