Connections!

On the JBS Mercantile message board we're playing another game (with an awesome prize)!  How does Doris come up with these?!

You can read all about it here!  The idea behind the game is that you participate in a challenge and then blog about it and post a link to your blog post on the forum.

I've posted a challenge for the game ... to take a walk, and a couple of photos.
Here's my take on my own challenge.

When I can, my puppy girl and I take a walk around the block.  It's a pretty big block, so there's a lot to see including a gorgeous Secret Garden.  On my last walk around the block it was a couple of man-made items that I photographed.  I look at them every time I walk and they are interesting in their own way.

First there's the horse hitch - or at least that's what I think it is!  It's very close to the street, in front of a big ol' house.  I imagine this busy street made of sand, dirt, and gravel in days past and a horse hitched right here.

This sign is on top of many of the storm drains along the way.  When I see this, it makes me smile.  Not just because of the cute fish icon or pretty blue color, but it reminds me how connected we are.  The river I believe this sign references is on the other side of town, but the little creeks on our side of town eventually drain into it.  And dumping something into the storm drain on our side of town eventually makes it to the river.  And that river, leads to another river, which leads to the Norwalk Harbor, and eventually empties into Long Island Sound.  Connected.

Come play Centipede with us!  There are all sorts of challenges: scrapbooking, other crafts, gardening,  general life challenges ... it's a great way to meet other crafters and read what they have to say!
